Walhalla Recreation runs youth leagues in basketball, baseball, softball, teeball, flag football, football, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, and more. Our mission is to give local kids a place to play and grow, season after season.

Registration for youth sports opens seasonally through Rec Desk. Age-group availability, deadlines, and any registration extensions are posted here each season — check back or register directly through Rec Desk below. Late registrations are subject to a $10 fee and are not guaranteed a spot. Registration is not accepted by phone.

In most cases, weather-related cancellations are posted by 4:30 PM on the city website and on the department’s Facebook page. Every effort is made to reschedule cancelled games, though rescheduling isn’t guaranteed due to district and state timelines and facility availability.
Player of the Month
Walhalla Recreation recognizes outstanding youth athletes each month through the Player of the Month program, sponsored by Blue Ridge Bank.
Sponsorship opportunities
Local businesses can sponsor Walhalla Youth Athletics through an indoor banner (8′×10′, $500/year), an outdoor banner (4′×6′, $300/year), or a $350 Team Sponsorship package that includes a 2.5′×4′ mesh banner, banquet and social media recognition, a recognition plaque, and homepage logo placement. Sponsorship proceeds go toward trophies and team banquets for the athletes.

Policy on Inappropriate Behavior

The Directors who make up the Tri-County Board for Youth Sports follow a “Zero Tolerance” policy regarding inappropriate behavior, covering all pre-season, regular season, and post-season interactions — practices, games, jamborees, homecomings, opening day ceremonies, all-stars, tournaments, and any other league-sponsored events.
Spectator & Parent Conduct: Parents and spectators should remember that their actions at games and practices reflect directly on the children. Tobacco use is discouraged in the presence of kids, and some departments are adopting tobacco-free facility policies.
Rules all parents, spectators, and coaches must follow:
- If a parent or coach is ejected for unruly behavior, the player must also leave. Ejected persons must leave the facility grounds immediately.
- Anyone who goes after a player, coach, referee, staff member, or spectator in a violent, aggressive, threatening, or malicious manner will be ejected immediately and, at minimum, will forfeit their season with the Tri-County League. Legal consequences may follow under SC Code 22-3-560 (see Attachment A).
- No fan or spectator may harass or criticize officials before, during, or after a game. A first offense draws a warning; continued issues may result in removal by staff or law enforcement.
- Departments request at least one police officer present for tackle football jamborees and regular/post-season games, and for basketball post-season play, per Tri-County League requirements.
- All league facilities fall under police/sheriff jurisdiction; unruly fans may be in violation of the state disorderly conduct code (SC Code 16-17-530).
- Anyone entering facility grounds under the influence of alcohol is subject to removal and/or arrest under SC Code 16-17-530.
- Municipal facilities fall under state, county, and municipal litter laws — please use trash receptacles (SC Code 16-11-700).
- Foul language is not permitted at any sporting event or public facility (SC Code 16-17-530).
- Spectators are not allowed on the sidelines, field, or court before, during, or after a game except in a medical emergency.
- Due to privacy laws, parents/spectators may not request to see birth certificates; only on-site representatives may review a certified roster.
- Personally identifiable information about players should not be disclosed on social media without approval from recreation directors, coaches, officials, and/or parents/guardians.
- Artificial noisemaking devices (air horns, megaphones, cowbells, etc.) are not permitted at games.
- Drones are not allowed in any facility during practices, games, jamborees, or tournaments for safety reasons.
Violators may be fined up to $100 or face up to 30 days in jail, with littering punishable by up to $300 or 30 days in jail. Please be respectful of others and set the example we want our children to follow. — Tri-County League Board of Directors
Parents Policy
Every child’s playing time is important. Walhalla Rec requires coaches to provide all players playing time in every game, emphasizing inclusivity and skill development while kids enjoy the game together. Coaches are expected to coach their team as they see fit, provided they follow all stated rules. Any complaints about volunteer coaches should be directed to recreation staff, and issues will be handled between coaches and parents professionally.
SC Code 22-3-560 (Attachment A)
SECTION 22-3-560. Assaults and batteries; assaults and batteries against sports officials and coaches.
(A) Magistrates may punish by fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or imprisonment for a term not exceeding thirty days, or both, all assaults and batteries and other breaches of the peace when the offense is neither an assault and battery against school personnel under Section 16-3-612 nor an assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature requiring greater punishment.
(B) Magistrates may punish by fine not exceeding one thousand dollars or imprisonment for a term not exceeding sixty days, or both, all assaults and batteries against sports officials and coaches when the offender knows the individual to be a sports official or coach and the act occurred within an athletic facility or its immediate vicinity during an athletic contest. “Sports official” means anyone who enforces the rules of a contest, such as an umpire, referee, or scorekeeper; “coach” means a person recognized as a coach by the sanctioning authority.
