Food Truck Permits

Mobile food vendors operating in Walhalla, whether daily, seasonally, or at a specific event, must hold a current Mobile Food Vendor Permit from the City. Permits run annually from July 1 through June 30.

Permit Types & Fees

  • In-County Annual Permit – $120.00
  • Out-of-County Annual Permit – $240.00
  • Temporary Permit – $20.00 per day

The City does not accept online or phone payments. Your $120/$240/$20-per-day permit fee (plus Business License) is due in person at City Hall (206 N Church Street) upon final approval of your application, not at the time you apply.

What You'll Need to Apply

  • A copy of your current SC DHEC (Dept. of Health and Environmental Control) permit
  • A color copy of a valid driver's license for each owner and operator
  • Two color photographs of each owner, taken within the last 30 days
  • A site plan showing the truck's location and layout at each site you plan to operate
  • A Fire Marshal and Code Enforcement inspection, scheduled after you apply

Where Food Trucks Can Operate

Food trucks with a valid permit may operate daily at the City’s Food Truck Center, located at 301 East Main Street. Food trucks are also welcome at City-sponsored festivals and events, typically on a first-come, first-served basis in the event’s designated food truck area.

      Register Your Bees

      The City sprays for mosquitoes June through early October. Register your bees and we will notify you at least 24 hours before any spray near your property.

      Applying for a Special Event Permit

      Any outside organization hosting a public event in Walhalla needs a Special Event Permit before the event can be approved. Here’s what to know before you apply.

      ⏱ Submit at least 60 days before your event

      Applications received fewer than 60 days out may not be processed in time. Plan accordingly.

      What you’ll need

      1. Completed Special Event Permit Application
      2. Non-refundable $100 application fee
      3. Proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance naming the City of Walhalla as co-insured
      4. All vendors (including entertainers) must hold a current Walhalla business license
      5. Food vendors must additionally register for and collect the city’s 2% hospitality tax

      • Brown Square — Main Street & College Street
      • City facilities (Depot, Old St. John’s, Recreation Facilities) — these also require a separate RecDesk reservation

      Water Service Changes

      Water service must be started, stopped, or transferred in person at City Hall. Walk-ins welcome as no appointment is needed.

      Starting service

      Bring the following to the office:

      • Valid government-issued photo ID
      • Renters: your signed lease agreement or a completed New Tenant Form (available at the office)
      • Businesses: also bring proof of passing Fire Marshal inspection

      Apply for a Utility Tap

      New water and sewer tap applications must be submitted in person and require sign-off from both the City and OJRSA before a tap can be approved.

      How to apply

      1. Download and complete both forms below
      2. Bring completed forms to the Water Department at 206 N Church Street
      3. Contact OJRSA separately to confirm capacity at your address as  the City cannot approve the tap until OJRSA signs off
      4. Allow additional processing time for OJRSA review
