Walhalla sits at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is often called the “Main Street to the Mountains.” The Parks, Recreation and Tourism department enhances quality of life through well-maintained parks, runs youth sports leagues, manages facility rentals, and supports the festivals and community events that bring people to Walhalla year-round.

Both facility reservations and youth sports registration are handled through RecDesk at walhallarec.recdesk.com. You can also register or reserve in person at 177 Razorback Lane during office hours. The office does not accept registrations by phone.

Stumphouse Mountain Park offers hiking and mountain biking trails near the historic Stumphouse Tunnel and Issaqueena Falls. The main entrance is off SC-28, and a second entrance at Ross Mountain is available for hikers. Day admission is $5 per car or $15 per passenger van.
Annual gate passes — free for City of Walhalla water customers, $50 for Oconee County residents, $60 for non-Oconee County residents. Passes are mailed within 7–10 business days of approval. Add-ons (stickers, water bottle, koozie) available with pass purchase. Picnic shelters rent for $150 with power or $25 without; call (864) 638-4343 to reserve.

The City partners with the Foothills Area YMCA to operate the Walhalla City Pool and Splash Pad, with the season typically running from late May through summer. Pool rentals for birthday parties and other events are booked directly through the YMCA at faymca.org/walhalla-city-pool.
Located at 272 Tulip Drive, about a mile from downtown via Highway 183, Sertoma Park & Fields has been open since 2008. Open dawn to dusk, no admission fee:
Sertoma is the site of the annual Walhalla Oktoberfest each October.
Walhalla has a free disc golf course at Sertoma Park & Fields, 272 Tulip Drive. For course details and layout, visit the Disc Golf page on the current city website.
Walhalla is the planned terminus of the Palmetto Trail, South Carolina’s longest pedestrian and bicycle trail. The city is also home to the Wanderweg Greenway, a paved multi-use trail connecting neighborhoods to downtown. For current Greenway progress and maps, visit the Wanderweg Greenway page.

Walhalla hosts a full calendar of community events: the Farmers Market, Jeep Fest, Independence Fest, Hispanic Heritage Festival, Get Outdoors Day, Movies on the Green, the Merchants Market, Home & Garden Tours, the Christmas Tree Lighting, Cookies with Santa, the Christmas Parade, and the Walhalla Wonderland Window Contest.

The Depot and Old St. John’s Meeting House each cost $200 for 4 hours, $400 for 8 hours, or $600 for all day (8 a.m.–11 p.m.). Renting both together is $300 (4 hrs), $600 (8 hrs), or $900 (all day); a full weekend for both is $1,300. The Tunnel Pavilion is $75 for a half day or $100 for the full day. The City Green and Brown Square are available at no facility charge but require a Special Event Permit.
City of Walhalla water customers qualify for a free courtesy pass. Apply using the pass form linked in the Stumphouse section above — the Water Department verifies your residency using your water account number. Passes are mailed within 7–10 business days of approval.

Submit a Special Event Permit Application to the City Administrator’s office at least 60 days before the event, along with a non-refundable $100 fee and proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance naming the City as co-insured. All vendors must hold a current Walhalla business license, and food vendors must pay the 2% hospitality tax.
