[Generic placeholder — confirm and personalize] The department responds to structure fires, vehicle accidents, and other emergencies within the city.
Fire Marshal Jeff Dover conducts annual residential rental and commercial inspections to ensure compliance with city ordinances and the most current International Fire Code adopted by the SC Building Codes Council. Businesses applying for a business license or for water and sewer service must also pass a fire inspection before either can be issued. Commercial and residential inspection-failure checklists, along with a memo on drawing requirements for businesses, are available as downloads. Contact: (864) 638-4345 or jdover@walhallafire.com.
Each October, the Fire Department tests fire hydrants throughout the city by flushing them, which confirms each hydrant is operating properly and helps identify weak points in the water system. Residents may notice temporary low water pressure or discolored water during testing.
